For many women suffering from lipedema, liposuction represents the beginning of a new life with significantly reduced symptoms. The removal of the diseased fat tissue puts an end to years of suffering with pain, restricted movement and aesthetic discomfort.
Depending on the volume of fat cells removed by suction, a small or even larger portion of excess skin remains in some cases. This is not only undesirable from an aesthetic point of view, but can also lead to limited freedom of movement or inflamed skin.
At our LIPOCURA® locations, we offer the accompanying laser treatment for skin tightening.
We have summarised the most important information on laser skin tightening for you below. We will also gladly advise you in person.

After liposuction, we use the laser to tighten the skin from the inside to stimulate new collagen formation and tighten the skin and subcutaneous fatty tissue. To do this, a thin probe is inserted under the skin. Inside the probe is a laser fibre that delivers energy directly to the skin and subcutaneous tissue. The tightening of the skin is primarily achieved by gently heating the tissue. Due to the minimally invasive application, there are no additional scars. The thin laser fibre makes it possible to tighten the sagging connective tissue and the subcutaneous tissue in a targeted manner.
The laser treatment is carried out through openings that were already created by the lipedema surgery. This way, effective skin and tissue tightening can be achieved in one and the same surgery, which previous tightening methods could not offer. For our patients, this means that surgical tightening is often not necessary in the case of more severe skin sagging.
At LIPOCURA® we perform the skin-tightening laser treatment immediately after liposuction. This means that the treatment can be carried out wherever liposuction is performed.
For many years, surgical skin tightening after liposuction was the only option, if the skin was no longer tight after liposuction in pronounced cases.
Often, another surgery had to be performed, which was associated with longer downtimes and sometimes unsightly scars on the inner thighs and upper arms. Although much gentler methods have been developed in recent years and the scar placement is also more inconspicuous, most lipedema patients prefer a skin tightening procedure that is as minimally invasive as possible.
Thanks to the latest laser technologies, nowadays we can achieve enormously successful skin tightening: Completely without scars, prolonged downtime or repeat and corrective surgery. Laser treatment is performed together with liposuction in one surgery.
With a diode laser we can perform effective skin tightening without scars. We use up to three different wavelengths to achieve the best possible result.
For pronounced indications, laser therapy with a diode laser is very effective. Laser tightening is performed together with liposuction and under general anaesthesia. After the procedure, our patients experience little to no pain from the laser treatment. Slight swelling may occur. You will see the first improvements immediately after the procedure. The end results are visible after six to twelve months, which is the time the body requires to rebuild collagen and elastin.
Since the procedure is performed in one step with the liposuction, there is downtime of a few days afterwards to give you time to recover from the surgery. You will also need to wear a compression garment specially tailored to you for about six weeks.
The cost of skin tightening varies depending on the size and number of treated areas. We will be happy to discuss a specific price in a personal consultation.
