Professional career

After completing my medical studies, I began my further training as a specialist in general surgery as part of my residency. From 2011, I took over the position of specialist in the Department of General and Visceral Surgery. I specialised in plastic, aesthetic and reconstructive surgery in 2014, focusing on body contouring, including breast surgery, lifting, liposuction and lipofilling. Building on this, I deepened my knowledge of bariatric surgery in order to advocate for patients with obesity and its secondary diseases. My specialist recognition in Germany took place from 2018 to 2021, during which time I worked in the Department of General and Visceral Surgery at BHB Krankenhaus St. Barbara in Schwandorf, Germany.

I attach great importance to the aesthetic component and precision work.

Thanks to my in-depth experience, I was able to develop a precise feel for tissue and perfect my skills in the field of wound closure. That is why I can proudly say that I have placed over 200 metres of the finest cosmetic sutures during my career.

Experience and work in the field of lipedema

Based on my CV, it is clear that it is a matter close to my heart that lipedema sufferers not only feel symptom-free after their operation, but also feel comfortable with their silhouette.

During my professional career in bariatric surgery, I noticed a particular fat distribution in some patients who had the typical lipedema appearance despite massive weight loss due to stomach surgery. Therefore, despite these operations, we had to fight with our lipedema patients for every kilo they lost. This aroused my curiosity that there is more to the clinical picture than losing weight through calorie restriction or exercise.

I have been pursuing my passion for surgery and the goal of freeing lipedema patients from their physical and psychological suffering at LIPOCURA® since 2021. It is a matter close to my heart to fight for the clarification of incipient stages. It is precisely these stages that are often overlooked, as those affected are not accused of having an illness, but of having prejudices such as a body image disorder or a lack of self-confidence. Yet they can suffer just as much pain and impairment as patients in advanced stages. After treatment with me, I am pleased to see that patients are downright relieved to have the certainty that they will not have to confront their symptoms for the rest of their lives and that their suffering and wishes will be taken seriously.
