Lipedema consultation in Bern

A few weeks ago, I had a consultation at Lipocura. I was informed very thoroughly and competently about risks and my options. What impressed me most was how warmly you are welcomed and that the doctor takes time. At first I was very nervous, but my fears were quickly alleviated. I also want to praise that at no point are you pushed to decide on surgery, and you’re repeatedly told that you can take all the time you need and reach out with questions at any time. By the way, a detailed report is sent by post after a few weeks.

A huge thank-you at this point—and when the time comes for me, I’ll gladly have my surgery with you!

Finding the right words is sometimes difficult—but I’ve been given a new life. Thanks to Chief Physician Tarek El-Asfar, after years of physical and psychological suffering I finally received the diagnosis of lipedema. The consultation and education about the disease and possible treatments (conservative and surgical) are incomparable to other places. He takes his time, is empathetic, honest, and meets his patients at eye level. The warm support from Ms. Schulze—an absolute soul of a person—is also an enormous pillar for those affected by lipedema. I consciously chose the surgical path and have already been operated on twice by Tarek El-Asfar—the third surgery is coming up soon. Finally pain-free, finally able to participate in life again. I would choose Lipocura—and especially him as the surgeon—over and over again. The aftercare, availability, and support after surgery are exemplary and heartfelt. After my painful legs, arms, and back/abdomen were brushed off for years by my GP, I was finally able to experience what it’s like to be taken seriously at Lipocura in Zurich. Hello there!
Thanks to a lucky coincidence, I ended up at the Lipocura Clinic in Zurich and was the first patient to introduce myself there. The empathetic and professional team – Ms. Schulze from the office and Dr. El Asfar – made me feel at ease from the very beginning and I could feel that my needs were the focus. I felt I was in good hands.
After a detailed consultation and discussion of the further procedure (a total of 3 operations were necessary), I said goodbye. Finally having a diagnosis and prognosis after 12 years was good on the one hand, but difficult to digest on the other. After the second consultation in Zurich, I decided to have the operation. I felt very well looked after at the Belaria Surgery Center and the operation also went very well. I had 10.5 liters removed. The first 2 weeks were a bit difficult due to my circulation, but after that things improved quickly. The whole thing is very individual and the reaction varies from body to body.
The result of the 1st operation has already exceeded my expectations and my life has already changed in a positive way. I finally feel more comfortable in my skin and was able to go snowshoeing again just 4 weeks after the operation. Daily walks of 8-15 km are possible without pain and without heavy legs in the evening.

I would like to thank everyone from the bottom of my heart for the good support. I am now going to OP 2 and 3 with a good feeling! So I can only recommend Lipocura Zurich!
