The confirmation must be available at the latest when the appointment for the operation is made. Otherwise the liposuction will be charged at 19% VAT.

A confirmation of the diagnosis of lipedema must be issued by a non-surgical doctor (e.g. family doctor, gynaecologist, lymphologist, phlebologist). The diagnosis itself is sufficient, degree and type are not required.

If the confirmation is not received in time, the invoice must be issued with the regular VAT rate of 19%. Without the confirmation, we cannot apply the tax exemption for medically necessary services.

No. The tax exemption only applies to the medical procedure (liposuction). All other services, such as clinic costs and plasma treatment, are not tax-free.

In Germany, a distinction is made between medically indicated and non-indicated procedures. Medically indicated procedures, such as liposuction for lipedema, are exempt from VAT if the diagnosis has been confirmed. Non-indicated procedures (e.g. purely cosmetic surgery) are subject to VAT, as they are not covered by the tax exemption under Section 4 UStG.

If you would like a plasma treatment as part of the operation, please let us know in good time before the operation date. This information is important for planning the time required and preparing the surgical instruments.

In 99% of cases, statutory health insurance companies unfortunately refuse to cover the costs. In rare exceptional cases, especially with grade 3 lipedema, there may be a possibility of cost coverage.

Yes, lipedema surgery and the associated aftercare costs (such as lymphatic drainage, compression garments and travel costs) can be deducted as extraordinary expenses for tax purposes. All invoices and medical certificates must be kept in a safe place.

If you need tax-relevant information, make sure you keep all invoices and confirmations, as the tax exemption only applies to the medical procedure. A ruling by the Federal Fiscal Court on 23 March 2023 allows the tax deduction of liposuction costs without an official medical report if the medical necessity of the treatment can be proven.

The advance invoice will be issued and sent at least 6 weeks before the operation.

Payment should be made at least 4 weeks before the operation.

If payment is not received on time, we reserve the right to cancel and reschedule the appointment.

All invoices are sent encrypted by e-mail to ensure the confidentiality and security of your data. You will receive a personalised password from us.

After your operation, you will receive a separate invoice from the external anaesthesia practice. The amount of the anaesthesia costs depends on the duration of the operation and we have no influence on the pricing. Therefore, these costs are not included in the total costs.

You will receive the final invoice approx. 7 days after the operation.
