My name is Andrea and I am 40 years old.

I’ve had my diagnosis since 2002, and what weighed me down especially on the way to the operation was that I was very slim at the waist, but everything below was very wide. As if the wrong torso was sitting on top of the torso.

That was me and my lipedema in stage II type 4:

I had compression garments as a conservative therapy.

Today I eat healthy and do various sports.

My biggest fear before the operation was how I would cope in the first few weeks after the operation. A photo cushion of my family was indispensable in my hospital bag. I am especially grateful to Dr. Sauter, the entire nursing staff and Ortwin for my lipoedema journey.

To all those who still have doubts about the decision to have the operation, I would like to say that it really is not easy at first, but what I have got back in terms of quality of life is priceless.
