I began my surgical training in general surgery at the Diakonie Hospital in Mannheim. I then moved to pediatric surgery, first at the Municipal Hospital in Karlsruhe and subsequently at the University Medical Center Mannheim, where I completed my specialist training. In 2016, I worked as a board-certified pediatric surgeon at the University Medical Center Mannheim and, from 2018 onward, took over the leadership of the Center for Severely Burned Children. In this role, I established interdisciplinary treatment pathways and structured care from acute emergencies through to reconstructive follow-up. In 2026, I am continuing my path in Mainz and strengthening the Fort Malakoff Clinic in Mainz. In addition to German, I speak English, French, and Haitian Creole, which benefits communication with patients from diverse cultural backgrounds.
Over the years of my clinical practice, I have repeatedly encountered patients whose symptoms and circumstances clearly indicated lipedema – often after long detours to reach a confirmed diagnosis. These experiences shaped my professional focus. I have continuously furthered my qualifications in this field, specifically expanded my expertise and intensified my exchange with specialist centres and colleagues.
