Professional career

After completing my medical studies and early surgical training, my career took me to national and international centres for plastic, reconstructive and aesthetic surgery. In 2010, I took up the position of senior physician in the above-mentioned field as well as hand surgery at the University Hospital Cologne-Merheim. From 2011, I also served as co-director of the Department for Severe Burns, and in 2012 as acting head of the Department of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery, Hand Surgery and Severe Burns Centre.

Between 2015 and 2017, I established the Department of Plastic and Aesthetic Surgery and Hand Surgery at the Dietrich Bonhoeffer Clinic in Neubrandenburg as a senior physician.
This was followed by my position as chief physician of plastic, reconstructive and aesthetic surgery and hand surgery at the Helios Clinics in Gifhorn and Uelzen (academic teaching hospitals). Since 2021, I have been working in a private aesthetic clinic.

I obtained my habilitation (venia legendi) in 2012 and have been an adjunct professor at the University of Witten/Herdecke since 2020; I have also been active as an investigator for clinical trials since 2015. I gained international research experience at Harvard Medical School (Massachusetts General Hospital) and as director of a laboratory for burn and tissue regeneration in Washington, D.C., among other places.
